RSI’s Community Connections Program at the 2023 ARRM Forward Conference

This summer at the annual ARRM Forward conference, attendees had the opportunity to join a session with RSI’s Community Connections team and hear Darin and Carina’s powerful stories about their experience in working toward their personal, career, friendship, spiritual, and many other goals through their efforts in Community Connections.

Our society tends to place an emphasis on relationships. We think that just finding that right person will make us happy and fulfilled. But research shows that friends are actually even more important to our psychological welfare. Friends bring more happiness into our lives than virtually anything else.

But close friendships don’t just happen. In an age where we can achieve as many “likes” as possible, many of us struggle to meet people and develop quality connections.

The Community Connections service is designed to help individuals connect with and ultimately flourish in community settings. In essence, “bridging the gap” between marginalized populations and the many options that community provides.

“I just felt like these people needed to know that we’re no different than anybody else. We have the same dreams, the same goals. We want to start a family, we want to have a house, we want to have a dog. Just all these things that people need to know, that we can do this.” -Darin Burke on RSI’s Community Connections Program
